David M. Brinley is an award-winning artist and illustrator sought out by international clients including Time magazine, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, GQ, the Washington Post, and the Los Angeles and New York Times magazines. His characteristic personal, editorial, and portrait art is seen regularly in juried annuals including American Illustration, Communication Arts, The Society of Illustrators NYC, The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles (SILA), and 3 x 3 International Illustration. An artist member of the Society of Illustrators NYC, David was selected by Creative Quarterly as one of the top 100 creatives/100 Best Annual in 2015 for his unique solutions to complex visual problems.
David’s traditional and digital hybrid artwork (containing zero generative AI) was recently selected for 2023 and 2024’s Lürzer’s 200 Best, a curated archive selecting just 200 outstanding digital artists from thousands for the world-renowned accolade of being featured.
A graduate with distinction from ArtCenter College of Design in Los Angeles, CA and Hartford Art School’s prestigious MFA in Illustration program, David is currently a Professor of Art and Design at the University of Delaware. He received a coveted Delaware Division of the Arts Individual Artists Fellowship award in the Visual Arts for Painting (Established category) in 2012. David has exhibited personal works nationally from New York to Los Angeles at the Society of Illustrators NYC, Gallery Nucleus, Creative Arts Center in Burbank, La Luz De Jesus Annual Juried Group Show, Mendenhall Sobieski Gallery, as well as Robert Berman Gallery in Los Angeles.
David’s distinctive visual collaborations with Tobias Forge of the Grammy award winning Swedish rock band GHOST and Martin Persner of Magna Carta Cartel (MCC) can be seen on contemporary national and international world tour posters, albums, singles, and merchandising worldwide.
